Our Story

TASORO was founded by apartment investors who discovered that quality building materials do not need to be expensive. Ten years ago, to lower cost and increase quality, our founders decided to bring construction and materials procurement in-house for all of their apartment acquisition and renovation projects. They scoured the globe to find the top factories of the most well known and high-end brands producing flooring, bath, kitchen and interior finishes. The results of that search led to the development and launch of TASORO, our collection of high quality interior finish materials competitively priced direct for real estate and construction professionals.

Our Founders

Steven Ludwig

Steven Ludwig

Since 2002, Mr. Ludwig has founded a vertically integrated family of companies spanning real estate investment, development, management, construction, lending and building materials. Through a number of real estate vehicles, he has invested in over 100 properties and $700 million of private and institutional equity into $1.4 billion of real estate acquisitions with an outstanding track record of success. In addition, he is currently developing 1,000 multifamily and townhouse units in Southern California.

In 2008, Mr. Ludwig expanded into property and construction management by co-founding Coastline Real Estate Advisors, Inc. (www.coastlinerea.com). Soon thereafter, he co-founded Turnaround Solutions, Inc. (www.turnaroundsolutions.com), a licensed California General Contracting company focused on turnkey apartment community rehabilitations. In 2019, Mr. Ludwig co-founded Tasoro, Inc., a complete line of branded, finished, unit interior building materials distributed nationwide. Lastly and in 2022, he co-founded Veleta Capital (www.veletacapital.com), an integrated real estate finance and investment management firm.

Mr. Ludwig began his career in real estate investment banking and private equity at Prudential Securities and Colony Capital, respectively, where he honed his real estate finance, underwriting, and asset management skillset across a variety of asset classes.

In 1998, Mr. Ludwig received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with concentrations in finance and marketing from The Roberto C. Goizueta Business School at Emory University. Active in philanthropy, Mr. Ludwig was a “Big Brother” for over ten years through Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles, after which he turned his focus to supporting the Challenged Athletes Foundation (www.challengedathletes.org); raising over $2.0 million for its benefit since 2011.

Married with three children, Mr. Ludwig is an avid endurance athlete, fanatic lacrosse player, and coaches multiple sports teams for each of his children.

Tal Zemer is President, General Counsel and Co-Founder of TASORO and Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of its sister general contractor company, Turnaround Solutions LP. Tal leads the TASORO brand to being the leading turnkey and out of the box solutions for interior finishes in thousands of multifamily value-add and ground up projects nationwide.

With 20+ years of experience, Tal is responsible for the overall operations, finance, brand and business development, legal, HR, marketing, and client satisfaction of both the materials and construction arms of the businesses. Tal’s background stems from business consulting, law, mergers and acquisitions and global luxury goods manufacturing, sales and distribution.

Tal earned his Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School, his MBA from Loyola Marymount University, and his Bachelor of Arts in both Political Science and Mass Communication from the University of California San Diego. Tal is a member of the California State Bar and an active participant with multiple organizations in the North County San Diego community.

Tasoro Timeline

2002

Two of TASORO’s co-founders begin multifamily investment platform, purchasing over $1.3 billion in real estate assets since.

2008

TASORO founders begin multifamily property & construction management firm, which has operated over 10,000 apartment units.

2012

TASORO founders begin multifamily & SFR renovations company, which has renovated over 10,000 apartment units (Turnaround Solutions, L.P., or “TAS”).

2014

TAS begins manufacturing private label flooring products for its clients.

2015-2018

TAS expands its private label line of products to over 20 categories for multifamily and single family interior finishes.

2019

Branded concept is created. Sold exclusively to TAS and its clients. Operations expand to 50,000 sq ft warehouse and headquarters.

2020

TASORO branded products created. Expanded customer base and begins to sell domestically to third party clients. Wins trademark. Proves concept in market by year end.

2021

TASORO spins off into its own corporate entity and wins national contracts with multiple major clients. Within six months, secures millions of dollars in purchase orders. TASORO Mex, S.A. is formed for future expansion and growth into Mexico.

2022

TASORO secures 120% growth year-over-year with strong future pipeline and opens the TASORO Design Center in San Diego.

2023

TASORO implements ERP systems, expands warehouse operations to over 100,000 sq ft and doubles staff.
